It’s terrific that Andrea Parrott is back. Although, it is surprising that RAGBRAI would hire anyone given that the organization will, more than likely, be running a deficit for a year. Remember all the talk last Fall about the “evil” corporation? I assume the Gannett corporation will have the determination and resources to continue this ride…[Read more]
During a church service, the pastor asked if anyone in the congregation would like to express praise for answered prayers.
Suzie stood and walked to the podium.
She said, “Two months ago, my husband, Phil, had a terrible bicycle accident and his scrotum was crushed.”
There was a muffled gasp from the men in the congregation.
“Phil was unabl…[Read more]
A tandem rider is stopped by a police car.
“What’ve I done, officer?” asks the rider.
“Perhaps you didn’t notice, sir, but your wife fell off your bike half a mile back . . .”
“Oh, thank God for that,” says the rider – “I thought I’d gone deaf!”
If you want to argue politics, knock yourself out. Just realize 45% of the country feels one way about the president and 45% feel another way. 10% have no idea who the president is. This is argued on websites EVERYWHERE, and it seems sad to add the RAGBRAI forum to the list. I have never seen anyone post, in response to an argument say, “My…[Read more]
No look here, RAGBRAI, waiting until the end of the month is NOT COOL. March madness is cancelled, bratty kids are home all day, grocery shelves are bare, the wife is freaking out because she has one 6-pack of toilet paper remaining and all the bars are closed. The only thing we can look forward to in late March is sitting on the couch with a…[Read more]
The “Parkersburg Eclipse News-Review” newspaper is reporting that Parkersburg IA will be the meeting town on Wednesday, July 22 (Iowa Falls to Waterloo day). They are also stating that Ackley and Aplington will be pass though towns, generally following Highway 57. This is very, very similar to the Eldora to Cedar Falls/ UNI day in 2015.
If you simply did RAGBRAI there is 47 years of trial and error and plenty of people on this forum who can advise you on how to fly to Iowa with a bike in tow. With the addition of this second ride, all is brand new to everyone and you’ll probably see solutions proposed over the next several months. It will more than likely involve a charter…[Read more]
I am extremely confident it is going to go through Des Moines. It has been quite a few years since it has.
I think you’re right except I’d predict they are saving Des Moines for the 50th anniversary year. Just think how cool it would be to camp on the grounds of the State Capitol? That takes some serious planning, though. To travel into the…[Read more]
No matter what the route is, we ALL need to lobby for Lytton, Iowa (pop. 305) to be on the route as a pass-through town. In 47 years these folks have never participated in RAGBRAI and they want to! They have created a Facebook page named “Let’s put Lytton on the RAGBRAI map”. They posted several photos of them delivering and feeding Anne and…[Read more]
If this is true the poor residents of Monticello have their work cut out for them as the Ego Ride overnights there on July 12. They’ll barely get done cleaning the streets when a larger horde arrives from the west on July 25.
I’ve never used them, but I have heard nothing but good things about Pork Belly Ventures. Tell you what, I gained a huge amount of respect for PBV when, after this October brouhaha, PVB announced their continued support for RAGBRAI within a day or two. None of this “well, let’s see how this all shakes out” point of view. I’m sure they had a…[Read more]
