Mr. Drake, like any other American, can live wherever the hell he wants to live. I’m sure he has family considerations. If we’ve learned anything the past couple of months it’s that we can easily work remotely. If he wants to fly into Des Moines every 2 weeks and work out of an apartment, that’s certainly a reasonable option.
Anyone care to write the last chapter of the epic poem “Ode to T.J” that was posted on (and deleted from) this forum? I’ll give everyone credit to all who were involved in this chaos. Like cats thrown from a second floor window, everyone seems to have landed on their feet.
This is a question for the RAGBRAI folks. We all assume the final route and the meeting and pass through have been finalized. We’ll also assume that route has not been released in order to discourage a collection of yo-yo’s from actually riding the route the last week of July 2020. That all makes sense, but when do you plan to release it?…[Read more]
When “Iowa’s Ride” was formed Bubba’s raced over to the new ride, evidently fine with forgoing RAGBRAI. When that ride’s date was changed, they were in a great position to service both rides. Several people on this forum claimed they signed up for both weeks. When the “other” ride faces obvious realities and cancels, Bubba’s better figure out…[Read more]
It’s terrific that Andrea Parrott is back. Although, it is surprising that RAGBRAI would hire anyone given that the organization will, more than likely, be running a deficit for a year. Remember all the talk last Fall about the “evil” corporation? I assume the Gannett corporation will have the determination and resources to continue this ride…[Read more]
During a church service, the pastor asked if anyone in the congregation would like to express praise for answered prayers.
Suzie stood and walked to the podium.
She said, “Two months ago, my husband, Phil, had a terrible bicycle accident and his scrotum was crushed.”
There was a muffled gasp from the men in the congregation.
“Phil was unabl…[Read more]
A tandem rider is stopped by a police car.
“What’ve I done, officer?” asks the rider.
“Perhaps you didn’t notice, sir, but your wife fell off your bike half a mile back . . .”
“Oh, thank God for that,” says the rider – “I thought I’d gone deaf!”
If you want to argue politics, knock yourself out. Just realize 45% of the country feels one way about the president and 45% feel another way. 10% have no idea who the president is. This is argued on websites EVERYWHERE, and it seems sad to add the RAGBRAI forum to the list. I have never seen anyone post, in response to an argument say, “My…[Read more]
No look here, RAGBRAI, waiting until the end of the month is NOT COOL. March madness is cancelled, bratty kids are home all day, grocery shelves are bare, the wife is freaking out because she has one 6-pack of toilet paper remaining and all the bars are closed. The only thing we can look forward to in late March is sitting on the couch with a…[Read more]
The “Parkersburg Eclipse News-Review” newspaper is reporting that Parkersburg IA will be the meeting town on Wednesday, July 22 (Iowa Falls to Waterloo day). They are also stating that Ackley and Aplington will be pass though towns, generally following Highway 57. This is very, very similar to the Eldora to Cedar Falls/ UNI day in 2015.
