Craig Parson started the topic Ride available Keokuk to Centerville tonight in the forum Looking for RIDES 2019 4 years, 4 months ago
I have 2 spots open for a ride from Keokuk to Centerville sometime after 4:30. There is room for 2 more bikes, riders and bags. If anyone is interested please email me craigp@flintcliffs dotcom or text me 319 seven fifty ninety 89. I deleted the earlier thread because the title could be read as a request.
Thanks,
Craig

Craig Parson started the topic Tandem for sale or rent it for the week- already on route in the forum RAGBRAI XLVII – 2019 4 years, 5 months ago
I have not been giving my Santana tandem the proper amount of attention. My loss your gain. If anybody wants to buy a 750 dollar tandem bike take a look. It is for sale in the Southeast Iowa Craigslist.

I would also rent it to someone for the week of Ragbrai to save the hassle of tandem…[Read more]

bentrider.com has a thread discussing a group every year. That is the place to find all things recumbent.
Craig Parson replied to the topic Sleeping pad suggestions? in the forum RAGBRAI XLVII – 2019 4 years, 6 months ago
I like my Klymit pad. In fact I bought more than one. Packs small inflates easily and they are reasonably priced. No reason to pay for high R-value in summer.

Correct, I guess that’s why I’m not in charge of anything.
Craig Parson replied to the topic bike panniers or trailer for ragbrai in the forum RAGBRAI XLVI – 2018 4 years, 9 months ago
My vote is definitely for the panniers. Trailer adds width, doubles the rolling resistance and is essentially a parachute if you have a headwind.

I have been a pilot before with Adaptive Sports and my stoker just had a bike shop box it up and ship it to Adaptive Sports several days ahead of the ride. Shipping a tandem is not cheap, but it’s done regularly. I just had to put on seats, bars, wheels and hook up brakes upon arrival. If you can pair this with a tune-up a local shop they will…[Read more]

Carl Anderson, that attitude reminds me off the comments I hear when someone is hit by a car “serves em right”. That comment may be slightly humorous to you, but not to me.
Riding fast is fun for some, so let us. Riding slow is just not fun to me, I don’t enjoy it but people can do whatever they want. I feel off balance like I am going to…[Read more]
Craig Parson replied to the topic Is there a "Baggers only" team in the forum RAGBRAI XLV – 2017 6 years, 5 months ago
I was wondering for next year as I am riding with “Adaptive Sports Iowa presented by Iowa Farm Bureau” again this year. That’s the whole name of the team, no joke. I have only run across the SKA team, but I have no idea who they are or where they are from.

I have been thinking about doing a self supported Ragbrai for a while now and I am wondering if there is an established team that is a bagger only group? The idea of riding to the start and just doing a more free-flowing thing appeals to me. The less of a plan you have the less can go wrong.
Craig Parson replied to the topic to helmet or not to helmet??? in the forum RAGBRAI XLV – 2017 6 years, 5 months ago
TJ just tweeted out that Chad does not need to wear a helmet………………………………………just kidding. I knew this would be a train wreck but at least there is some traffic on this forum other than that boycott thread that would not die. Reminds me of a “what’s the best oil” thread on any auto forum.
John Travolta Saturday night…[Read more]

You have no choice here as “foam hats” are required by Ragbrai via insurance nanny institute of america. I left a stop and rode away without one for several miles and people acted like I was dragging a dead body behind me, they were horrified.
Try to find one you don’t hate and get used to wearing it. The new helmets made in the last 3 to 4…[Read more]

Craig Parson replied to the topic Was it just me or did traffic seem out of control last year? in the forum RAGBRAI XLV – 2017 6 years, 5 months ago
Yes there was way more of that last year. Not sure why. Was the route less controlled or did people know they were on the route and just not care? I know we are an inconvenience for people and they are forced to share with us for short portions, but it seemed like way more than that.
I hope it’s better controlled this year and please stop…[Read more]
Craig Parson replied to the topic Training in the forum RAGBRAI XLV – 2017 6 years, 6 months ago
I have no computer to track mileage I just go by how hard I am able to push while I recover after a climb. Based on that I would say I am ready as far as cardio. My training so far is almost 100 percent dirt and gravel miles. Is 100 miles of mud and climbing still 100 miles, who knows?
I just got a bigger seat bag so I can commute more easily…[Read more]

Go with the mini-pump and hope you don’t need it, it may take a little longer to pump it up but you will use the second bottle for sure. If you do end up changing a tire you will be asked about 50 times if you have what you need or if need any help by people passing by.
See you soon
