In a couple of years, you will be able to sit back and let your motor bike do all the work while you breeze through the hills on your community event with a battery that lasts all week. You wont have to do any training at all. All the while dressed like a racer.
ebike is a marketing name, its not really a bike, its a bike with a motor.
“I can’t run a marathon, but I’m not looking for a technological way to close the gap with those more able than myself.”
Ride a half day, do what u can, I think of the dudes who couldn’t walk, still on Ragbrai, riding a hand cycle.
“While we do our good works let us not forget that the real solution lies in a world in which charity will have become unnecessary.”
Ragbrai is not a charity ride, here is a link to charity rides in iowa if that is what you want to do, –
Here is a link to the facebook page with two videos of today’s talks at

Visual on @IowasRide getting crushed by @RAGBRAI_IOWA. Google searches are a good proxy for awareness and registration intent. #RAGBRAI2020
I’m curious how many “corporate rides” Randi Rogers has ridden? and who is the “us” he claims to be speaking for?

I refer to it as a stupid loop
that jog to the left, has plenty of pesky hills, while going straight through to Underwood is flaaaaaat.
“Their bikes are so conspicuously something other than a bike, for one thing.”

Its just not the same, I’ve been on lots of Ragbrais, those things are bikes with motors, they cleverly market them as e-bikes, but those things aren’t bicycles, they should call them something else, perhaps I should get one, riding would be so much easier.
While training the other day, on a human powered bike, I was passed by two different e-bikes, there was some wind that day. Both of those machines, blew by my like I was on something completely different than what they were riding. It wasn’t even close, two completely different things. While I am all for people doing as they please, I certainly felt as though I was being somehow less than smart, providing all the power the old fashioned way, by myself, as they sped by me with the greatest of ease, quickly vanishing over the horizon. After reading all the comments in this thread, count me as one vote for RAGBRAI being a human powered event. What I saw, was a whole lot more than, a little more help. I’ve ridden one also, night and day. Its not hard to image many able bodied riders, whizzing by, no need to get in shape, in search of pie.
