I would say on the bike is just as high of risk of transmission as standing in crowded lines, bars, etc. Thousands of people biking, breathing heavier and producing more droplets in what is basically one huge slip stream. Droplets from someone who has covid are going to travel further and to other people. Also, covid needs to be well under…[Read more]
I dont see Ragbrai happening as of right now. I do see a lot more smaller rides popping up in its place throughout next summer. I say smaller as in maybe a max of 500 people. Im keeping my fingers crossed Ragbrai happens. Even if Ragbrai does happen next year I think we are still 2 or 3 years away from Ragbrai being what we know and love.
I thought about doing that. But since I havent had to fly with the bike yet I havent really checked into it. Was going to check in about 11 months. But that makes sense to deflate them to a low psi and just inflate them once I get to camp/ragbrai.
I have a Trek Domane SL6. The past 6 weeks Ive had probably 8 to 10 flats. I live in AZ and everything is dried out so lots of little thorns out there causing small puncture hole flats. I decided to try tubeless tires 2 weeks and so far I love it. The piece of mind of not having to worry about changing a tube on the side of the road for a small…[Read more]
According to the Ragbrai app TJ is still the director. Seems that should be simple update? They have people waiting for their orders or waiting to just get a response but yet they have plenty of time to design new shirts and items to purchase and advertise them. Seems to me with Ragbrai being cancelled they would have plenty of more time to take…[Read more]
Given more thought? Seems to me you had plenty of time to think about how you would handle questions, demands, refunds, etc. You knew that there was a very very very good chance Ragbrai would be cancelled/postponed this year. Its not like it came out of nowhere. Sounds like excuses or an extreme lack of planning, forthought, and understanding to me.
Like I said in another thread, the bad publicity, reviews, and upset customers are going to hurt bubbas in the long run. Theres always riders (new and old) asking for input on charter services, Im sure those who lose their money wont hesitate to offer their opinion.
Will be interesting to see how contracts are written in the future. Concerts,…[Read more]
Wonder if Bubba considers Ragbrai 2021 a future ride? Maybe he will reach out to those and offer them other options now that Ragbrai is officially canceled. IHe will lose more money in the long run in bad publicity and unhappy customers if doesnt offer a refund or allow the fees to be applied to nexts yeara Ragbrai.
Im thinking about doing Bike the Coast in San Diego in October. Theres different route options ranging from 7 miles to 100. Its far enough away that it hasnt been canceled yet and 100 miles enough to keep me riding/training consistently the next several months until October. Im the type if I dont have something to train for I wont ride nearly…[Read more]
