William Mugan replied to the topic Possible to drop bags off on Satuday? in the forum RAGBRAI XLVII – 2019 1 year, 6 months ago
Hello,
I believe that they will not start accepting bags until about 5:00 AM Sunday morning.
At that point they will weigh your bag (50 pound limit) and you must carry it on the truck yourself.
Good luck.
William Mugan replied to the topic Ride Share: Keokuk -> Omaha in the forum Looking for RIDES 2019 1 year, 6 months ago
Hello,
This charter service offers transportation from Keokuk back to Council Bluffs on Saturday 7/27. They can transport you, your luggage and bike. You do not need to purchase their week-long service. You can purchase the transportation only.
Good luck.
William Mugan replied to the topic baggage truck in the forum RAGBRAI XLVII – 2019 1 year, 6 months ago
Hello,
The Register’s baggage truck is always located in the “main” campground. In Council Bluffs the “main” campground is located on the SE corner of 23rd Ave and Horseshoe Blvd.
It leaves at 8:00 AM everyday.
Good luck.
William Mugan replied to the topic Overnight Town Maps in the forum RAGBRAI XLVII – 2019 1 year, 6 months ago
Hello,
It seems like most towns do not post the official town maps until about 10 days before the start of the ride.
Good luck.
William Mugan replied to the topic Max bag size for official luggage transport? in the forum RAGBRAI XLVII – 2019 1 year, 6 months ago
Hello,
I’ve never seen them weight any bag after the first day or two.
Just be sure that your bag has a tag that matches your wrist band number so that your can retrieve your bag at the end of the day 😀

William Mugan replied to the topic Bike Getting Wet Question in the forum RAGBRAI XLVI – 2018 2 years, 7 months ago
I don’t do anything. The bike sits outside in the rain or dew.
If the seat is wet in the morning, I just wipe it off with my gloved hand and go.
Enjoy your ride.

Paul Lamers,
One of the best kept secrets on RAGBRAI is the use of local libraries. They usually have free WiFi and places to charge your phone.
Additionally, they are quiet and usually have air conditioning. This is true for the pass-through towns and the overnight towns.
Good luck.

The final maps, including the overnight town’s maps with campsites, are generally posted about two weeks before the start of the ride.
Good luck.

William Mugan replied to the topic Trike or Bike for my aching neck? in the forum RAGBRAI XLV – 2017 3 years, 7 months ago
Linda Wiard-Bauer,
You didn’t say what part of your neck hurts, but if it is the back of your neck, it is probably sore from holding your head & helmet up.
If so, the solution is simple, just raise your handlebars. It will make a big difference. You may have to go to a bike shop for assistance.
Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.

dischaef,
I have quadricep tendonitis in one leg. I just wrap it real tight with an Ace Bandaid or something similar and I am good to go.
Give it a try, it might work for you.
Good luck and let us know your decision.

If you fly into Omaha, the PBV charter has a bus shuttle service:
The shuttle service is in addition to their normal week-long service.
William Mugan replied to the topic Is there enough tent space in each overnight town. in the forum RAGBRAI XLV – 2017 3 years, 10 months ago
Brandon Clark,
As has already been said, the answer is sometimes, and sometimes not. Every year is different and every day is different.
On some days there is plenty of open space and on other days space is very tight. It just depends on the town and the space available.
Note: much of the space is first-come first-sereverd. You just grab an…[Read more]
