Last week five of us did the “No Ragbrai No Problem Bike Ride” (my name for the week). We stayed at a hotel in La Crosse WI and did five days of riding. We did some great rides, the Driftless Region is an amazing area for cycling. Bicycle-LaCrosse.com had several options for rides and one day we did the Root River Trail. Downtown LaCrosse had…[Read more]
My response to Bubba would be, I didn’t cancel my contract with you and I expect you to be in Clinton on July 18th to bus me to Le Mars. Then I will see you each day in the overnight towns, where you will have my tent set up, power stations ready and whatever other amenities they have promised. If they are not willing to do that they have…[Read more]
I ride a Cervelo S5 with Zipp Wheels. It will be my 11 ride overall and my four with this Cervelo. I never take a lock and never worry about my bike. I do sleep with it in my tent, not due to being worried about it stolen. I don’t want someone to trip over it at night and I don’t like it getting dew on it overnight. The only bikes I have…[Read more]
I have done Ragbrai 10 times in the last 12 years. The reason I did my first was a personal challenge. I had lost over 60lbs and just started riding the spring of 2008 and heard about this ride and thought it would be a good test. It was a good test, the route that year had some serious climb and was fairly long. The reason I have done nine…[Read more]
I don’t understand why Ragbrai is attending this. Iowa Ride will go away soon, not sure why they want to give them a forum to get some free attention. TJ has shown he is in trouble, he blinked first by changing the date and direction. Only way anyone can take those moves is he is desperate and trying to hang on. Quit giving him any attention,…[Read more]
Serious cyclists….have you ridden Ragbrai? I have 10 times and I consider myself a serious cyclist, however Ragbrai is mostly made up with non-serious cyclists. In regards to BikeIowa endorsement, who cares. BikeIowa means nothing to me or the thousands of other riders from around the country that enjoy Ragbrai.
I disagree. I think tradition outweighs change for change sake. Let’s have something that remains great, that’s going from west to east. It’s the greatest ride in the country we don’t need to mess with it to much. I think YOU should start a ride from north to south, east to west. do a circle I don’t care but leave Ragbrai alone.
First, the ride will survive without you. Second, Lance has done a lot of wrong but I still think he is free to go where he wants. Third, you won’t see him even if you do the ride, I have done Ragbrai nine times, Lance has been on four and I saw him briefly one time. Fourth, and the most important if you haven’t done Ragbrai you haven’t done the…[Read more]
How about the x on the left barn door indicating we are starting where the tenth ride began (Akron), only time it began in Akron. M on other side for ending in Muscatine. Big star for Des Moines. Windmill for Pella it would be a short day between Des Moines and Pella but possible. Three small stars for three county seats we will pass through????…[Read more]
