Haha, I see a perfect self-portrait of helicopter dad. They’ll be fine. They’ll find a way by themselves. The friendly Iowans and Rigbra’ers will bail them out. And it will be one of their best stories and bragging rights.

In 2015, I wasn’t bother much by climbing into Fort Dodge but the side wind was a little scary when going downhill and crossing the bridge into the city.

Is it possible that anyone will move out beer garden after the assigned 45 minutes just because the next group is gonna come? My toe thought about one second and said: “nej, it ain’t work”.

from non-mobile browser, you can enter your data manually to Strava. You can also upload you ride files (FIT, GPX, …), too.

Niles replied to the topic Can anyone share the 2015 RAGBRAI Ride with me on Strava? in the forum RAGBRAI XLVIII – 2020 5 months ago
sent mine to you. My group requested with host families so the daily start/end points could be a couple miles or hundred yards away from official routes.

Exactly the reason I wanted Di2 over upgrades on other components. If you have ever had panic shifting on climbing, you’ll thank for electrical shifting.

So far all of your stories are rated-G Hallmark ones. I’ll contribute a PG-13 one.
2017, Day-3, Britt, Iowa, where the National Hobo Museum is.
Our group was about leaving after the museum visited, games played, bar hanged in long enough. Then someone did the head counting asked “where is Don”, referring to one of the lawyer teammate. I saw him…[Read more]

Cycling is good for cardiovascular and thigh but not much exercise on other parts. Volleyball is on short burst of energy on jump, move and spike. I having trying actively on both to compensate on each other. I’m hoping maintain my jumping capability longer enough to count on the big tall boys going downhill faster so that one day I can compete…[Read more]

I took the week off as happened in past years. Get up about 6 am, eat breakfast, fill my water bottles, check tire pressure, and start to ride by shortly after 7 am. It has been a very hot week so daily ride finishes before noon as possible. Then take shower, have protein shake, order takeout lunch, drink a beer or two, have a nap, watch Netflix,…[Read more]

Northeastern seaboard is under a heat wave and the humidity is high. But my two retired neighbors and a gal over the state line in Pennsylvania joined me for a 44 mile loop in Delaware and Pennsylvania.
Keep the spirit of RAGBRAI, I put on the RAGBRAI jersey from my first one, had a case of beer, and a tent set up in my basement. Not from Casey,…[Read more]

I have replied the survey to forward my 2020 registration to next year but haven’t received any response yet. Is RAGBRAI working on it?

Niles replied to the topic RAGBRAI decision April 15 in the forum RAGBRAI XLVIII – 2020 1 year ago
Yeah, I agree the assessment hear that 4/15 decision date means very likely that this year’s RAGBRAI is going to be cancelled. Especially to consider that Iowa’s COVID-19 impact/reaction are behind of other states and major cities. The best hope is that the rest of country shows the pass of the pandemic apex and that gives Iowa some justification…[Read more]

Yes, the first five days are very similar to 2015 route. While I like to revisit the towns I have fond memories, I also like to see the new towns. Our team driver, the super handy engineer in John Deere, lives in Parksburg. I guess we’ll have a big party there.

Becky, my apology. The “you” I used never means you as Becky. And what I was trying to say is that in my personal opinion, RV might not be the most enjoyable way of doing RAGBRAI, to the RV riders themselves and others. The might-be precieved comforts a RV provides could not compensate the lose on other aspects of RAGBRAI’s total experience, for…[Read more]

I kind of understand/don’t understand/don’t wanna understand of doing RAGBRAI in RV way. If you think your RV are so nice to everyone else outside your cocoons, please spend a night in a tent surrounded by hundreds RV running generators all night (in some overnight towns you have to). I totally understand Ken’s saying of “spiritual way to do the…[Read more]
