There are veggie option available, but you have to seek them out … and get there before others buy them out!
Glad to see more folks stepping up to provide edible food during the week … I’m still destivated that PBJ isn’t coming.
You might checkout the Quad Cities Bike Club:
We’ll be loading/unloading in Bettendorf IA at the foot of the I-74 bridge.
Beebs sez: as I understand it, if they are regular police-issue cuffs from a manufacturer like Smith and Wesson, the keying is universal — meaning that if anyone else happens to be carrying a handcuff key, they can open your handcuffs
pHIlo sez: yup
My frame only has mounts for one bottle, so I started using a pack for rides over 3hrs & temps above 75. The pack reminds me to keep drinking, plus I can haul stuff if I don’t feel like wearing a shirt!
My first RAG in ’10, I used one bottle & I ran dry once between towns … wasn’t fun.
I’ve only ridden RAG twice, but wore MBT shoes both times. There’s more walking than you think.
… might get some sandles this year.
Managed ~30 miles @ 14mph today after the freezing fog burnt off. Dropped down out of the sun to the Wapsi valley (McCausland) into the fog again. By the time we got back up the hill the fog was rolling back in.
Cold toes, but it sure felt good to get outside & off the rollers!
Good for you! So you know it’s possible to ‘go it alone’ …
You shouldn’t have any problems if you ‘break down’ … gals always seem to get helped before guys … doesn’t matter how young/old you are either. Most mechanical probs seem to happen on the first day & early in the day. As you saw last year, ‘bike shops’ are pretty prevelant the first 20 miles. If your bike is in good condition & you’ve got some miles in, you shouldn’t have any problems.
Having a charged cell phone might ease your mind abit.
Oatmeal Stout at the Stone City General Store is excellent … so’s that hill on the east side.
I wonder if they’ll have enough room at Waspi State park for everyone?
Many Happy Returns Beebs!
Thanks Kitty, Starting off in a longer gear does help! I’ve been able to get decent 15-20 min spins now. Sure get tired fast though … I managed to down-shift while on the rollers today (old-school down-tube shifters).
Now I have to get brave e’nuff to stick my clipless pedals back on!
Got my rollers yesterday, WOW what a workout trying to stay up on it. I see where looking ‘down the road’ helps. I guess I should adjust the rollers to fit my hybrid Trek that I ride all the time, rather than the racin’ Raleigh that I don’t ride. The Raleigh felt squirrelly on the road this year … I guess it don’t work for me anymore.
Out for a ride in the sun today!
Diagonal route ending in Lansing & have centuries almost every day … maybe that will cut down on the crowds.
Last year I was pretty burnt on Sat & had a nice hour nap in Wallcot by the ‘ompa’ trailer in the square.
I like to find cemeteries for naps: large shade trees, water’s available, cuts grass, quiet occupants. Although in Britt in ’10, lots of folks kept coming by looking for the ‘bo burials.
