Please forgive my bluntness but your shortsightedness and greed WILL kill ragbrai. We don’t come from around the country because Iowa offers fantastic tourism opportunities. We come because two men had an ingenious idea of creating that from nothing and it was successful beyond their wildest dreams. It has benefited…[Read more]
I take a slightly different view. With a crowd that will crest over 20,000 on the big day, statistically someone is going to get pissed off. It is certain. I say, keep you cool and enjoy your ride because you are the only one you can truly affect. Be polite with others and try to accommodate their needs for road space and do your best. After that…[Read more]
Outstanding year for weather, but the last day was probably the prettiest route I have ridden yet. Just beautiful! The hills were a challenge but it was a good relief from all the early flat stages and it is fun to climb. We really need to do a diagonal route starting from the SW corner and ending in the NE corner. Hilly start, flat middle, and…[Read more]

You are talking to a group of people here who generally feel pretty strongly about people jumping into RAGBRAI without paying their fair dues. That being said there is very little control over anything whether camping or riding, in fact that is what makes RAGBRAI so great. no rules, no officials, no start times, no speeches, just a lot of good…[Read more]
Its easy if you are using the RAGBRAI trucks. You show up at the start town, most any official can tell you where they are parked when you arrive. Then you throw your bags on the next morning and they tell you where they will be that night, and so on. You just go with the flow, everything just works. Its sort of Zen like.
Rolling out yesterday morning early and it was 73 and sticky. I immediately had that RAGBRAI feeling and it just made me grin from ear to ear. Got 1300 so far and will probably be at 1500 by the time we start. Cant wait, gotta have one (10) of the Cattlemen Ribeye sandwiches!!
