I got my packet yesterday. In the Participants Guide, page 18, under Participants Packet, it’s says “Bike license plates are available for pickup at the RAGBRAI trailers for registered riders.”
Our team of 12 riders buys each host a RAGBRAI pint glass and coffee mug with the current years logo on them. Then in August I follow up by sending a thank you letter and a team picture to each host.
Almost all the 2017 overnight towns have there websites up and running. Some have limited information but they show there logo and tabs for future links like maps, campgrounds, etc. I have yet to find anything on Lansing other than the link in the Allamakee County page. All it has is 2 forms linked to it. Am I missing it somewhere?
The baggage truck leaves at 8am, not opens at 8 am. You can start loading the truck at around 5am.
A very high percentage of your posts, at some point, relate back to when you rode RAGBRAI back in the mid to late 70’s. When was the last year that you actually rode a full week on RAGBRAI? Very few things in life, including RAGBRAI, are the same that they were back in 1978. If you want to ride a week like it was back in the 70’s, then find a ride that caps it’s numbers at 1,000 bikes. Then you will be overnighting in towns similar in size to Vinton, or ending in a town like Lansing, IA . Most of the things you don’t like about the present day RAGBRAI will not be there on that smaller ride.
Most of your posts are entertaining in one shape or form, but it gets old hearing your stories all being from the late 70’s. How about telling us a story from last year or 5 years ago? That doesn’t happen b/c you haven’t been on RAGBRAI since when? Just tell me when you last rode a full week on RAGBRAI.
I’m now registered for my 26th RAGBRAI! Things aren’t the same way they were back in 1990. Few things in life are. But I wouldn’t miss RAGBRAI for anything. BTW, have you registered yet?
Pass has been sold!
Thank you BojiMom for all your time and efforts in hosting RAGBRAI this year. You asked for questions, so here’s one. I have a team of 17 riders. I have found 3 different locals that live on Emerson Bay, Spirit Lake and West Okoboji that are more than willing to host our team. They belong to condo associations the are preventing these local folks from hosting us because the condo associations have rules preventing tent camping on their properties. Why are these condo associations not allowing tent camping for the 20 hours the tents would be set up. If allowed to have tents, it seems to me this would take a lot of pressure off your housing committee in finding host homes.
Sorry, should have looked first. I see the prices were added today on the registration page.
Week long rider-$160
Week long non-rider-$35
Vehicle pass- $40
Try Krueger Auto in Waverly Ia. They have a 15 pass van with hitch and you can also rent a 6×12 trailer from them. Nice set up. I almost rented it until I worked out another system to transport bikes, bags and bodies.
If it’s your 1st RAGBRAI, ya gotta dip! I still have a 8×10 photo in my office of my first finish in Bellevue in 1990. I haven’t miss a ride since. No matter how long the line, no matter if the bus has to wait to leave, no matter what, don’t miss your 1st RAGBRAI ending tire dip. It will be the most important 100 ft of the week. Don’t forget the camera. You’ll still be looking at it 20+ years later.
Once anyone in the group is selected, the whole group is in. The reason your name was hi-lighted in yellow is that you are logged in under your name. If Jane Doe from your group logs into her registration page, her name would be hi-lighted. As group contact, you will be mailed all the credentials (wristbands, bikebands, license plates, jerseys, participant guide, ect) in June. Included will be a print out of all the wristband numbers for your group and if they ordered a jersey, souvenir pack, ect.
On the registration page, on the left side, click on “lottery results”. Index the birthday and name of each of your riders and it will give you their wristband number.
