My bike computer (Hammerhead Karoo) shows me distance to destination if I have a route loaded.
This year I may try and edit the RideWithGPS files with my Team’s camping spots.
Bruce Woodrow replied to the topic Gluten Free options in the forum RAGBRAI XLVII – 2019 1 year, 6 months ago
If they are back, Carbo Hut was usually set up in the Meeting Towns and had vegan options, like brown rice, veggies and tofu. Might work for Gluten Free.

Bruce Woodrow replied to the topic 'Walking' through the towns in the forum RAGBRAI XLVII – 2019 1 year, 6 months ago
Since it is pretty much impossible to walk a recumbent trike, and impossible to fall over no matter how slow, I ride — very slowly.
I wear Shimano sandals that are comfortable for riding and walking.

Carbo Hut was usually set up in the Meeting Town, serving vegetarian and vegan meals. I hope they are back this year.
Dirt Burger was also great.

I thought I added two photos in the above comment, but I don’t see them. I’ll try again with a Link instead of an Ing.
This should be my UV face protection.

Lots of good comments already.
This year will be my third consecutive RAGBRAI, all on a recumbent trike (Greenspeed GTO, tadpole, all 3 wheels 20”).
I ride slowly which means the days are long, so sun protection is important. I mostly cover up, by wearing compression tights and arm sleeves. Under my helmet I wear a lightweight hat with a deep v…[Read more]
Bruce Woodrow replied to the topic Weather during RAGBRAI in the forum RAGBRAI XLVII – 2019 1 year, 6 months ago
In 2017 (my first RAGBRAI) I was surprised at how hot it was when I went to bed but how cold it got overnight. So I use layers that I can add/remove as required: cotton sheet, flannel sheet, blanket.
Bruce Woodrow replied to the topic Meeting Towns vs. Pass Through Towns in the forum RAGBRAI XLVII – 2019 1 year, 6 months ago
The main difference I have noticed in the past is that some of the main food vendors will focus on the Meeting Towns. But most other towns have church groups, service clubs, school groups providing a range of food and drink. In the last two years I don’t recall a town that did not have a water station and port-a-Pottie’s.
Bruce Woodrow replied to the topic SAG ebikes? in the forum RAGBRAI XLVII – 2019 1 year, 6 months ago
From past years, I assumed my Trike could fit on the trailer. Don’t know how I could turn it upside down though. That is not really a thing with most trikes.
Is there an alternative signal?

Barring something unforeseen (like a mechanical issue) I will be there.
Who else?

Trike Meetup
Who’s going to be there?
Are we still on as follows:
Day 4, Wednesday [Ames to Newton]. Aim for arrival at the field (reached by a bike trail, just before the pass through town of Nevada) between 9 and 9:30 am, with photo at 10.
That will leave us with 50 miles to go for the rest of the day.
Here is the link to Andy’s ear…[Read more]

I don’t have panniers. I ride with a bag on my rear rack and a smaller bag on a side seat mount.
The larger bag has things I only need to get to when I am stopped and off the Trike: tools, spare tubes, rain jacket, extra shirt, etc.
The smaller bag has things I want in easy reach while riding or at least without getting off: phone and b…[Read more]

You should read the FAQs.
The daily signup is still open, so you can both register for the first two days.
Technically RAGBRAI is on public roads, so anybody can ride. If you do not sign up you do not have access to support, including medical, SAG, discounts at vendors, transportation of gear, etc.

Bruce Woodrow replied to the topic highway 59 rumbles in the forum RAGBRAI XLVI – 2018 2 years, 8 months ago
I have done a lot of triking in the Iowa City area (eg. Hwy 6). In theory I can straddle the shoulder rumbles but in practice the tolerance is so close I just can’t hold a line that perfectly. However, on RAGBRAI I can keep to the left of shoulder rumbles in the traffic lane.
For me, the worst problem is the rumbles that span the entire t…[Read more]

I agree that vegetarian options are good. Although I am not strictly vegetarian I will often opt for it available. And at least one member of our Team (of 60) is strictly vegetarian.
Wraps instead bread might set you apart from the crowd.

Rumbles and Trikes
You should try your approach when your TWO front wheels track about 34” apart (and your rear wheel halfway in between).
Despite the official RAGBRAI position that rumbles are no big deal, I avoid them like the plague. I have had thoroughly tightened accessories flung off my Trike by rumble strips. And if there are rumble s…[Read more]

Greenspeed GTO
My ride is a tadpole trike, made in Australia. My first RAGBRAI was 2017. I am riding again this year.
I camp with Team Sprint (Sprint Selzer Bicycle Club) but, at my relatively slow speed, ride with the ever-changing crowd.
