I tried to eat lunch and dinner at local brick and mortar (non-chain) restaurants this year… it was great! The lines were rarely as long as the food trucks, it was cooler, the bathrooms were clean, the seats were comfortable….
If I ever do Ragbrai again (which, of course, I hope to!) that’s going to be go-to approach.
This was my 5th Ragbrai (over 10 years). It was the first one where I did NOT feel like the baggage truck riders were treated as 2nd class citizens. With the exception of Burlington, the shuttles were all great and the overnight towns seemed prepared.

I’ve only ever used the official campground. It’s easy and will use it again this year.
