WOW! This was my first RAGBRAI and I found the Iowan’s to be great! I guess I’ll really be impressed next time I get to do RAGBRAI.
I found the roads to be, well, roads.
The only thing I can be critical of was the Geode State Park detour.

I’ve spent nights under the stars in every clime and place. I’ve left a sleeping bag at home more than once and ALWAYS regretted it. The applicable adage in this case is “Travel light, freeze at night.” I’ll be taking a flat sheet and a military surplus poncho liner.

David is spot on! Most of the organized rides I go on are staffed by volunteers who are NOT cyclist. They really have no idea what they are getting into and do their best to follow instructions they don’t fully understand/appreciate.
