Wow, sounds crazy. I figured they would close all one direction to cars and make the other side two lane traffic, much like I-80 during summer construction for miles and miles and miles. I’m guessing they will turn us towards the high school area and it’s only about 2.5 miles on US 59 from IA 141.

This will be my first ride and I just can’t imagine the largest probable pass thru town day one (Charter Oak, population 483), becoming Charter Oak population 10,483 for lunch. They must start baking and cooking in June :).
Google maps say that it’s right at 68 miles from IC to Davenport if you head to West Liberty on Hwy 6 and then Hwy 22 to Muscatine and then north on 22 into Davenport. I have never been on IA Hwy 22, has Ragbrai used this before as the ride along the river seems like it would be beautiful.
Checked Delta, you can fly into Omaha on Friday before for 205 non stop and back to NYC on Sunday out of Davenport/Quad City for 142 with a stop in MSP. 347 total not bad. Sioux City limited service very high airfare.
