I just read an update from PBV regarding registration. They said people will be hearing shortly but long story short, EVERYONE who registered is in, everyone. So, no worries about whether you are in or not, you’re in. Get ready to ride. See you in July!
ppayne – No, no. My fees will be paid, in fact, they already are :) Paid them in February I think. I can’t swing the whole ride so I bought multiple daily passes this year. Plus, like I said, I use the RAGBRAI semis to transport my bags. I surely wouldn’t be able to use the RAGBRAI trucks if I didn’t pay my registration. See you in July.
Got it, thanks and that’s what I thought/knew. I just wanted to be clear as I think there is going to be a larger than normal number of bandits this year and to hear “free baggage truck” might be a bit appealing to bandits. All that said, I too, use the RAGBRAI truck and have no complaints with it. Get a good waterproof bag and you’ll be fine. To…[Read more]
bmyoungberg – Just for clarification, when you mention the free truck, are you referring to the RAGBRAI semis? They aren’t exactly free ($175 for the week) They are less than other charters for sure but I just wanted to be sure I wasn’t missing something.
Sandaltan – I just checked a few minutes ago out of curiosity, still rooms available today. Not sure what that implies really, but you’re right, rooms are usually long gone by now. Maybe riders are waiting a bit longer to firm up plans, make sure they have the full vaccine, etc?? See you in July.
Iowa Falls is a college town and I already saw one of the charters is selling dorm rooms at the University. Additionally, Fort Dodge and Waterloo are big enough towns that as recently as a couple weeks ago there were still hotel rooms available. I imagine there still are if that is of any interest. Good luck, see you in July!
If those maps are accurate, it looks like you’re right. I was hoping we would be over near the high school. It seems like lots going on over there and plenty of open space for both camping and entertainment. Oh well, they want us to see another part of town this time around I guess. See you in July.
Any local insight on where the main campground is going to be in Fort Dodge? I think it was at the high school last time around and the entertainment zone was at the Crossroads Mall but I have seen numerous comments alluding to camping along the river front in downtown this year. Anyone heard anything? Just curious as much as anything.
klkoopman – I notice that too with the revised routes a few of the days. They have even made changes since the new site was unleashed as well. So, I’m not really sure what is what but I would assume what is on there now is probably pretty solid. Like I said though, they had us heading straight all the way across Hwy 20 from Fort Dodge to Iowa…[Read more]
Thanks mootsman – PBV is my fall back for sure. The last few years I have hitched a ride, off of this forum, with various groups, teams and individuals. Nothing against PBV at all, but man did I have fun with those other smaller groups. One year, a small group picked me up on their way from Michigan; great people. I got on the bus and the first…[Read more]
One fully vaccinated adult rider looking for a ride to LeMars on Saturday the 24th. One bike, one guy, one small bag. Will gladly chip in for gas, beer, food, booze whatever. Can meet up anywhere in the greater Des Moines metro area. You want a hot shower in cold A/C in a hotel room on day 2 in Fort Dodge? I have a hotel room there very close to…[Read more]
I don’t see where to edit my comment on the new site so this is an edit to the above. I will be fully vaccinated and willing to prove it if desired. I will also wear a medical grade mask for the ride to Le Mars if needed. Thanks.
What the hell, I don’t mind being first :) One guy, one road bike and one small bag looking for a ride from anywhere in the Des Moines area to Le Mars on Saturday July 24th. Will pay for gas, beer, booze, food, whatever. See you in July!
My significant issues, while much better the last 2-3 days, were all on a Chrome browser as well. Just in case any of the RAGBRAI folks are watching this thread, it sure appears to be a compatibility issue with Chrome but again, much better the last couple days.
