As most of you know I am a Ragbrai nut, I enjoy the ride, but with the recent developments, I have decided to opt out for the ride this year and will not endorse either ride. Both sides are spinning the story to fit their fan base. The ride was not to be political, but both side have made it so. My opinion is iowa ride will have a couple…[Read more]
I was not planning on doing Ragbrai for the next 3 years so I can do other states ride and they all take money. I would put money on Ragbrai on the long run, this is not the only time this has happened in Ragbrai history, where the Director got too big of a head.I Don’t believe either side at the moment and TJ ain’t angel. I don’t…[Read more]
TJ was not from Iowa when he became Director. People please understand this country has travel agencies that do this for a living. And yes they put on world tours on bikes. The biggest and best well known is Back Roads Travel. Idon’t side with either as both sides handle the situation wrong in my opinion , but those of you that don’t…[Read more]
Well, not that anyone will listen but I will say it anyway.
The parent company should release the Ragbrai trademark so it can be made into a non-profit organization. Members of T.J team and members of the Register should be the temporary board members for this upcoming year only. Once it is up and running after next year’s ride,…[Read more]
This year proved challenging for me, as I did not have enough training miles in .The last day was a long and toughest day for me as I hit the mental wall.I did have the determination not to walk up any hills this year. At the last hill going into Keokuk I met my match and was just about ready to get off when a Gentleman ran about 50 yards and…[Read more]
I don’t think Dyersville will be a stop as they are going to build a 8000 person stadium, The New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox are going to do a game there August 13 ,2020
But I could be wrong.
My biggest observation was how poor of shape the county roads were. They could have put a cold patch on some of the holes. I would like to see less corporate vendors follow Ragbrai, put them in the unicorperateday towns that have nothing. Let the local business have main spots.
Also note that there are 2 types of cyclist on ragbrai, those…[Read more]

Please help us celebrate our centinal by any American legion members that are cycling please order your Jersey and show your support by wearing in on the Monday ride which is American Legion day.
A few of us in Iowa are thinking of forming An American Legion cycling team for Ragbrai next year to Celebrate American Legion being a 100 years old. Just wondering if other Legion members through out the US that cycle would be interested in joining and make it a National America Legion cycling team let me know what your thoughts are.
I have done 2 Ragbrai s and have done the century ride both times, in 2016 and 2017 and I am no athlete. Last year I did it with a sinus infection. I just get up early and tootle slowly down the road and I was able to make it both times before the 6 pm cut of services. My Jersey is my theme, slow and steady.
My wife and I are thinking out getting a tandem bike for some quality time together and to do some light touring around the area. Meaning a 100 mile radius of our home and possibly doing Ragbrai with.
We could use any advice, like how to train on them to how to decide which one would work for us.

I believe Ken’s idea is a good one, but ask each county to have a designated spot for a donation, or put it as an elective on the registration .
The Sherif is an elected official, so he might be speaking of concern from his voters. No matter what his motivation was I do think we should implement Ken’s idea and practice the Golden Rule to…[Read more]
