Absolutely postpone Ragbrai 2020. Keep the same route for 2021. During Ragbrai, hygiene is sketchy at best (think Kybo’s, Food trucks, etc.) Just think how long lines would be at 6 ft distance for Kybo’s, Farm Kids, Mr. Pork Chop, Beekman’s just to name a few. Crowds and close proximity are constant in pass through towns or overnight towns…[Read more]
I plan to ride both aw well and I’m very happy with both routes. As far as logistics are concerned, here is my plan. I will use Bubba for both weeks. I will use the long term parking in Dubuque for the start of Iowa’s ride. Hopefully they will have a two week option. For Saturday’s ride from Sheldon, I will ride the 34 miles southwest to Le Mars.…[Read more]
After multiple ragbrai’s and sunburned lips, I found a system that works for me. 1) I have added a sport version of the DaBrim to my helmet to provide lots of additional shade on my face and back of my neck. 2) I use Bert’s Bees “All Weather” chapstick that’s SPF 15 and no bad taste like some of the others. I’m a CPAP user as well. Bubba’s Charter service has charging stations (300) and powers CPAP users everynight. We have our own little area with power. Last year there was 10 of us and the group gets larger every year.
As an introvert and having no one interested in riding Ragbrai, I chose to go it alone. What a great experience and I love it. This year will be my 5th in a row. There’s something very freeing and exciting about following your own schedule (or lack thereof) and treating yourself to whatever experiences you want, simply because it’s what you wan…[Read more]
Very disappointing to hear this. Many riders start riding after 6:30 am and wake up very hungry. I always look to eat as soon as possible. Please strongly consider serving the most important meal of the day. Thank you.
I use a regular CPAP machine and no battery pack. I use a charter service that provides power for all CPAP users. 3 years ago, I was the only CPAP in the charter. 2 years ago, it was 3 users. Last year, the same charter had 10. One extra bonus of this setup is I have power every night. If it’s too hot, I use my fan. Every morning, my phone is charged.
