and here I thought this time of year on the ragbrai forum would be boring. How about make one ride totally human powered and one ride e-bikes? Then I wouldn’t have to deal with those other bastids, not choosing sides.

Bob ya don’t get it. Ride your horse-drawn recumbent. Post a lot of pictures. That would be great. I bet people would love it.
Mootsman, lets say I’m riding my e-bike and my support driver is at the meeting town w my charger and a generator. Then I’ll meet them again at the overnight town. I’m staying in a camper. I’m riding all week. This seems…[Read more]

Seriously, how exactly is Ragbrai going to eliminate e-bikes from Ragbrai? Then they can eliminate bandits, boom boxes, alcohol, draft lines and anybody else who doesn’t ride Ragbrai the way you think they should.
I would never ride an e-bike on Ragbrai, it would feel like cheating. However riding Ragbrai on an e-bike could be a big thing for…[Read more]

So, some people rode e-bikes on ragbrai 2018? how about 2017? 2016? For how many years have e-bikes been on ragbrai? That gives us some history. Lets hear the stories about how e-bikes ruined your ragbrai. Remember the sail bikes? They are non-human powered bikes. For me, e-bikes are just another aspect of the rolling circus that is ragbrai. I…[Read more]

I would pay for an extra truck to carry the bikes fully assembled to the start town. Currently we have to box them up. Every time I disassemble and reassemble my bike I get a new scratch on the bike and one on me. Plus I never get it assembled quite the same way again. Beer and brats on me. I’d still sleep in the tent and stand in all the lines…[Read more]

The Iowa City Press Citizen reports that the person who drove over a man sleeping in his tent was sentenced to 5 years in prison. This crime occured during the 2016 ragbrai. I don’t know how to post the article, but you can google it.

Will it rain? Maybe. Will it be a cold rain? Maybe. I’m a skinny old person who gets cold in the rain. I carry rain gear to keep my head and core warm and dry every day of ragbrai. I don’t trust the weather reports I have the rain gear tucked under the handle bars where it doesn’t bother me or the workings of the bike.
My riding buddy isn’t…[Read more]

I use a glasses mount rear view mirror. I ride on aero bars a lot, but not so much during Ragbrai because of the crowds. I also use a second mirror that mounts on the head tube believe it or not. Instead of cranking my head up from aero, I look down at the head tube mirror to check traffic behind. The view is between my inside left leg and the top…[Read more]

Yes I am still riding. My cycling fitness level is not what it was at the end of Ragbrai, but I am still spinning away. I have a little over 600 miles since Ragbrai ended. I am trying to learn how to dress for colder weather. Today I rode 40 miles, overdressed. Other days I ride and i am cold, can’t find the correct clothes for the day. Oh…[Read more]
