I am considering the possibility of bringing my gear with me this year and was wondering if anyone has some advice. My bags usually max out at 32 lbs, but I will have an additional 3-5 lbs this year to accommodate a bigger tent.
I don’t think that it was the amount that I was drinking. I think that it was electrolyte balance. My water intake was way up, but I used powdered Gatorade for the first time and cut back a little on advice from an article that I had read. I had also eaten every pickle that I could find in 2014, but I didn’t see any last year.

I am extremely light skinned and am incredibly susceptible to heat exhaustion. I had it in 2012 (understandably, but not a severe case). 2013 was pretty okay and 2014 was better..almost perfect. I think that one of the biggest things to bring with you are safety habits. That means that your bike needs to be brought to your favorite bike shop for inspection. You need to be sure that your wheels are trued and your brakes are okay so that you don’t get hurt. This is incredibly important.
