Ottumwa engagement
- 24 July, 2009
After a 5 a.m. rainstorm on their tent and a long, hilly Thursday ride, the day ended pretty well for Erin Case and Jason Shaw of Kirksville, Mo.
Shaw, who grew up in Ottumwa, had secretly gathered some family and friends (and Erin’s parents, all the way from Lawrence, Kan.) at the end of the 76.9-mile ride. He told a tired and confused Erin that it would be best to come into his parents’ house through the back yard, where he had stashed a ring inside a flower pot.
When he got down on one knee, she got the picture.
And to the delight of the assembled family, she said yes.
