Pie-to-go in Carson

Hundreds of riders had their first taste of RAGBRAI pie in Carson. But it wasn’t selling fast enough.
Four young vendors – Emma Preston and sisters Sydney and Cassie Schilling of Council Bluffs, and Megan McMartin of Urbandale – loaded individually wrapped slices onto a plastic tray and carried it through the crowds, hawking their homemade goods like ballpark pros. Slices of apple, cherry and strawberry-rhubarb went for $3 apiece.
By late morning, their list of customers included an Australian, a woman with a stuffed loon on her helmet and “some guy in a kilt.”
