I am astounded & excited for the 2010 RAGBRAI Route.. I grew up in Rolfe, IA the first 8 yrs of my life, then moved to Cedar Falls until after high school. After moving away in 1976, and only now returning to ride in a 2nd RAGBRAI, I am amazed to have the luck of both of these “hometown” communities to be on the 2010 ride~! To top That off, I am enjoying the chance to ride w/a group of my cousins that I’ve not had a chance to see much of for years now either.
I also delivered the Des Moines Register newspaper as a boy, and Loved Karras’ & Kaul’s columns growing up.
WTG, RAGBRAI~!
Thanks for the printable map of the route. Will printable maps of each day’s ride be made available? The map for the entire route is kind of small to read; each day individually would really be nice, if possible, please.
My 32 year old son will be riding in his 3rd RAGBRAI. I am so excited that it will pass through Britt. My grandfather, Raymond R. roberts owned the Britt News-Tribune from 1919 to 1952. I have often talked about my good times at my grandparents’ home; we lived in Cedar Rapids when I was a child. I am retired now so I plan to meet him in Britt and visit the newspaper office and his great-grandparents’ graves.
Never fear, soon there will more maps.
The interesting thing about RAGBRAI is that it provides many of us riders the opportunity to reconnect to communities we grew up in as a child. And, for the other riders without a connection to the state it provides them the unique experience of getting to know just how friendly the people of Iowa can be. For any first timers I would recommend that you just enjoy the ride; experience as much as you are willing to take in; and, more important don’t shy away from getting to know your fellow riders.
Will a “mapmyride” course be routed out for those w/ Garmin computers?
Garner is going all out.. I will tell you more on the specifics later. Tom
I am very excited about this year’s ride starting in Sioux City. My dad was transfered from Sioux City in 1970 and we went back to visit once in 1971 and that is the last time I was in Sioux City. This ride will also be passing through towns where several of my relatives are living now.
It would be awesome if the daily maps that have the elevation and such were published. We laminate each day with our overnight, emergency contacts & beer stops on the back for the team. I know a few others do this as well so it would be helpful to have them so we can get cracking.
Thanks,
Hi Jeremy! I hope you were able to get a map with the features that you mentioned. My reply may be quite late but might help. Anyway, I found this printable map and was able to download the map of Memphis. The quality was impressive.
