What is the most important thing to bring on RAGBRAI (besides your bike)?
Common sense and the ability to ride in a straight line looking at what’s in front of you, not who’s beside you, not who’s behind you, what is directly in front of you and don’t run into it.
In addition to the previous comment about holding your line.
1) Your RAGBRAI credentials.
2) Your bicycle shoes and helmet. Also, don’t leave your shoes in your bag and then toss it on the truck, you won’t get it back by the time your realize the mistake.
what are the “meeting towns” for?
Mary, meeting towns are where the vehicle route meets the bike route. It allows teams to meet with the rides at approximately the halfway point. Support vehicles are not allowed along other points of the bike route (RAGBRAI has sag if riders require).
hi! Wont be comin this year! Had an accident that caused a sub-dermal hemotoma blood clot between my brain and skull. As in lucky to be alive. I’ll be along in spirit and phone using skipe.
this will be a new experience for me and I am looking forward to the different experience.
did I mention I cannot wait?
contact anyone on Team Brewhaha to buy my wristband. Have fun!
Papa T, we will miss you this year and will be thinking of you. Get well, my friend!
Will wifi readily available in most towns on the RAGBRAI route this year?
Any charging stations available to charge cell phones?
Wifi will be available in every town. The Windtstream trailers will be in the overnight towns that have hotspots and laptops. You can do your charging there as well.
This might become obvious once I arrive but how are we to know where the SAG wagons are going to be if we are staying with hosts??
rick-
sag wagons are on the road, they do not pickup in the overnight town at host homes.
Rick, do you mean the baggage truck?
Hey Papa T, I have laid out my Zach aka Yoda bracelet and will wear it for you and the little guy. Sorry I never met him.
I remember seeing a list of bars with drink and food specials along the route last year. One of the teams sponsored it. Is there one for this year, and where can I find it?
Team Brewhaha has them Mary. Look for them in their green Brewhaha jerseys.
RIDE RIGHT
I found it on the internet – Ragbrai? – before I left home last year and printed it out for our team members. I’ll keep looking before next Saturday. Otherwise, I’ll look for the green jerseys. Thanks,Sandaltan
During the RAGBRAI 2011 Expo, a company (Camelback?) offered free water bottle exchanges, i.e., you could give them two of your used, old, water bottles and they would hand you two new replacement “thermos-type” bottles in return.
It was a great program, providing an introduction to this newer bottle technology to many riders.
Do you know if they are planning a similar exchange program for RAGBRAI XL this year?
Thank you!
ZZ
Call me a little anal, but I was looking over the daily route maps to figure out our team’s stop/reconnect points and saw what SEEM to be some obvious mileage errors on Wednesday’s route (e.g., Jewell to Ellsworth 6.7 and Ellsworth to Story City 4.3). Not a big deal at all, but thought I would comment, as some people rely on the route maps for various purposes.
Is it possible to have a couple guests with their own tent join us registered riders in camp ground for one night?
Is there a designated parking area for riders’ who need to leave there vehicles at the end point during the week of the ride?
I’m trying to find a number for the security that is working in Sioux center today July 21 my son was doing working security an i have not heard from him. I’m concerned parent. thank you
missy
You actually make it appear really easy together with your presentation but I in finding this matter to be really one thing that I believe I’d by no means understand. It kind of feels too complex and very vast for me. I’m taking a look ahead for your subsequent put up, I will attempt to get the dangle of it!
Thanks for penning this really good write-up..Beloved your content articles. Please do hold writing Alternatives to Google search engine http://asdasghdsdfs5hf.co
