Devinder Singh, 72, of Waukee, died suddenly on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at his home.
Devinder worked behind the scenes on the RAGBRAI registrations and working with the computer data for many years. He and his wife Mary Ann were always at the RAGBRAI Expo to assist with registration issues before the riders took off.
Devinder moved to Des Moines from Karnal, India in 1973. He quickly adapted to Iowa and made Des Moines his permanent home.
An avid tennis player, Devinder met his wife on the Waveland tennis courts and they were married in 1979.
Devinder had a gift for living in the moment and he was always at peace with himself. He loved life and the friends and family in his life. Devinder enjoyed swimming and yoga; in his earlier years he ran marathons and played tennis. Devinder was well read and had a great sense of humor and wit. He loved the simple things in life and reaching out to others.
Devinder is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Saluri of Waukee; his daughter, Ayesha Brauer of Phoenix, Arizona; his step-son, Karsang Brauer of Berlin, Germany and two brothers and three sisters still living in India. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Central Iowa.
The RAGBRAI staff and crew have lost a great friend. We will miss you!
