RAGBRAI Riders are Giving Back to Causes They Love

Participants in this year’s RAGBRAI ride (The Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) can start a GoFundMe for a charity that they care about, with the option of earning a special swag kit in addition to knowing they are helping a great cause.
Some RAGBRAI riders have used their creativity, like Katie who will be dressing up in funny costumes throughout the ride as a way of thanking donors for their contributions to her GoFundMe. JustGoBike Podcast hosts Murph and AP have started a GoFundMe for Dream Team, a nonprofit providing young adults with opportunities to build confidence, set goals, and create a healthy lifestyle through mentor-based interactions centered around bicycling.
Additionally, to make it easier to say ‘thank you!’ to each of the host towns of RAGBRAI, the RAGBRAI Community Fund has been created as a way to donate in one place to support charities nominated by each host town. The funds raised will be equitably distributed by GoFundMe.org to each town’s charities! Riders will have a chance to interact with some of these charities throughout the ride and see the good work that they are doing for their community.
We can’t wait to celebrate the way riders are giving back, and will be celebrating those fundraisers on night four of the ride.

THIS IS A LIE.
One of the MASON CITY non-profits that was listed as receiving money from RAGBRAI as part of their “Community Fund” for 2022, NEVER RECEIVED THE FUNDS.
RAGBRAI used the non-profits name on the go-fund-me, and in other materials, advertising that they were going to donate money.
The non-Profit in turn advertised and promoted to people that they should donate money to the community fund thru RAGBRAI, and the last correspondence that the non-profit had with RAGBRAI was a statement that “it should take a month or so to get a check” and that was the last that the non-profit ever heard about it. still no money almost a full year later!
RAGBRAI STATED AND ADVERTISED THEY WOULD GIVE MONEY TO THAT NON-PROFIT, EVEN GOING AS FAR AS TO COLLECT THE NON-PROFITS EIN NUMBER AND OTHER INFORMATION…. AND THEN NEVER GAVE ANY MONEY TO THAT NON-PROFIT.
