RAGBRAI Route: Thursday, July 27 – Charles City to Cresco

Thursday’s RAGBRAI route from Charles City to Cresco travels just 54.6 miles but we will start to experience some hills as we climb 2,257 feet. We will visit the towns of Ionia and New Hampton for the first time in 40 years! We will also make our inaugural visit to Lawler and then a final stop in Protivin before heading north to Cresco. Thursday is RAGBRAI Jersey Day.

THURSDAY – JULY 27, 2017
Charles City to Ionia – 13.0 miles
Ionia to New Hampton (Meeting) – 8.5 miles
New Hampton to Lawler – 8.3 miles
Lawler to Protivin – 12.7 miles
Protivin to Cresco – 12.1 miles
Total Mileage: 54.6 miles
Total Feet of Climb: 2,257
The route (towns and roads) is subject to change.
The full route, along with roads and pass-through towns will continue to be released through the week. Each daily release should be out by 8:00 am CST. Enjoy the ride!
Here is the remaining schedule:
Friday, March 10 – release the route for Friday, July 28
Saturday, March 11 – release the route for Saturday, July 29
Support vehicle maps will be released in early July.

So is route traveling from New Hampton To Lawler on Hwy 24?
Cresco, my fair city and home to: the Crestwood Cadets, the Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame, The Mighty Howard County Fair, Featherlite Trailers, and childhood home of Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Norman Borlaug.

I’m not an authority, but it looks like the routes with black borders are state highways as opposed to farm roads. I use Google Maps to get a better feel for the routes. But I have found inaccuracies, though, on Google.
