RAGBRAI Route: Wednesday, July 26 - Clear Lake to Charles City

Wednesday’s RAGBRAI route from Clear Lake to Charles City encompasses 57.5 miles and climbs 1290 feet.  We will visit the town of Thornton for the first time in RAGBRAI history and then ride to Swaledale, which featured the inventions of local farmer Dale Caspers during our last visit in 2010.  Dale passed away in February and we hope Dale’s inventions can be brought to life again during RAGBRAI.  Rockwell has a great aquatic center for our meeting town and Cartersville will also be on the route, a stop that was quite memorable in 2010 for their swinging aquatics!  Rockford rounds out the route, home to devonian fossils in the the Floyd County Fossil and Prairie Park Center.  Wednesday is Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, honoring the brave men and women who help protect us everyday.

WEDNESDAY – JULY 26, 2017
Clear Lake to Thornton – 13.1 miles
Thornton to Swaledale – 5.6 miles
Swaledale to Rockwell (Meeting) – 6.0 miles
Rockwell to Cartersville – 6.7 miles
Cartersville to Rockford – 10.7 miles
Rockford to Charles City – 15.4 miles

Total Mileage: 57.5 miles

Total Feet of Climb: 1,290

The route (towns and roads) is subject to change.

The full route, along with roads and pass-through towns will continue to be released through the week.   Each daily release should be out by 8:00 am CST.  Enjoy the ride!

Friday, March 10 – release the route for Friday, July 28
Saturday, March 11 – release the route for Saturday, July 29
