Your ride route maps enlarge and print well but your vehicle route maps stink! Too tiny to read and can’t be enlarged for printing. It is nice to know where the designated route is but you might as well know, I chart my own. Sometimes The Register runs support vehicles over routes that have no grocery supplies. That makes for an impossible situation as we need provisions daily.
Travis- If you download the PDF you can print it any size that you want. Same exact deal as the bike routes that you like. the part that says…Click here to download a pdf of the RAGBRAI Support Vehicles 2014 (pdf file)
Please stick to the route as there are many roads that are closed due to construction and bridges out. The roads that we choose all have height clearance and will be open the week of RAGBRAI.
Thank you TJ! I know you guys work really hard on all of this and safety is a huge factor! Thanks for all you do. We usually restock in the overnight towns once we get settled in, it works out great and those hosting towns get to reap the benefits!
We are coming from GA and CA and renting an RV. First time riders but born and raised in Iowa. Is there someone I could communicate with or a blog/website with detailed info about RV use? i.e. what to bring, how to get bikes if not allowed in RV…. We have arranged our parking in all overnight towns but would like to get some advice on how it all works.

Much appreciated,

T.J., you were right. Nothing a 19 year old could not fix. I was wrong and I apologize.
I do try to stick to the vehicle route, when I can. We do not stay in campgrounds but rather find hosts that are willing to let us park in their driveways or yards. Hence the need for daily provisions as we are often far from food vendors. When not on the designated vehicle route I plan carefully so as not to be on the ride route and to cross it only at intersections where I know there will be an Iowa State Trooper directing traffic. I often find that I am in a, “pace line” of other RVs and busses not on the designated vehicle route but one that takes us to a large enough town to have a HyVee or Fareway mid-route. Provisioning at the host towns is most difficult due to traffic considerations and many other teams have learned this as well.
Appreciate that… If you are crossing where the troopers are, you are adding to their challenges. Please stay away from the bike route. We pick those roads because traffic is low. Every extra car or RV that crosses adds to the problem. Thanks and enjoy.
Firtst time solo rider from College Station, Texas with wife for support driver, doesnt have support vehicle tag. Can she drop off camping gear at campground and find other area to park? Can she drive to meeting stops for lunch without a support vehicle tag? I would buy one for her if I could but I guess they are sold out. Thanks, JM
Is there more detailed maps that show where good pick-up/drop-off areas are for mid-towns and host towns? Our team would like to set these locations ahead of time to reduce confusion. Are there any that you would recommend for each town?
