RAGBRAI Tire Dipping Updates for Council Bluffs & Keokuk
COUNCIL BLUFFS – TO START RAGBRAI
Due to historic flooding and uncertainty of river levels of the Missouri River, the tire dip location has been moved near the RAGBRAI Expo at the Mid-America Center for a non-traditional dip. River water will be brought in from the Missouri. Many of the multi-purpose trails are still flooded in the area and the debris and silt left by the historic flooding has made any dip sites at the Missouri River too dangerous. Thank you for understanding.
KEOKUK – TO END RAGBRAI
After battling historic flooding of the Mississippi River in the Keokuk area, the “Biggest Dam Dip on the Mississip” is going down at Victory Park on the bank of the Mississippi River!
The route to the dip site will bring riders underneath the Keokuk/Hamilton bridge and through a misting water feature that will mimic the Keokuk dam’s famous spillways. Riders will continue on to the riverfront and passed the George M. Verity Riverboat Museum where local band, Glitter Salad, will stage their upbeat performance from 10:00am – 2:00pm and Radio Keokuk will conduct its live remote broadcast throughout the day. Just beyond the band, riders will find the dip sight just south of Howard’s Boat Dock.
The Mierotto Shelter House will be the site of Main Street Keokuk, Inc’s beverage garden, which is set to offer a variety of beverages including beers, seltzers, and a local craft beer option from V’s Brewpub. The garden will also feature the official RAGBRAI beer, Tailwind. Vendors will be set up in the parking lot between the shelter house and riverfront and will feature a wide variety of food options including barbecue, gyros, vegetarian dishes, and concession-style favorites. Don’t forget to stop by the RAGBRAI trailers or Keokuk RAGBRAI merch tent to get your official event merchandise.
Happening just south of the dip site, Southside Boat Club will host the 3rd Annual Musicians Memorial Benefit with seven bands, food, auctions, games, and a whole lot more.
