Looking for a safe route to ride, a bike that fits or the latest cycling accessories? Check out the Active Living Bike Expo Friday, April 23 through Saturday, April 24 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, in St Paul.  Admission is free with a non perishable food item donated to the Minnesota Emergency Foodshelf Network and enters you into the grand prize drawing.

RAGBRAI reps will be on-hand to chat with area cyclists.  A tremendous number of Minnesota cyclists head south each year to ride RAGBRAI each summer.  Be sure to stop by the RAGBRAI booth to say hello to T.J. and Wes.

Here is some more information of the Bike Expo:

Designed by HaveFunBiking.com for the whole family, the Active Living Bike Expo will demonstrate the latest in bikes, riding apparel, gear and hundreds of fun riding opportunities. Those who attend will discover how easy it is to bike to-and-from: work, school or for errands; venture out safely on a mountain bike trail or a BMX course; and what it takes to enter a road race or ride the Velodrome track in Blaine, MN.

Presented by the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota (BikeMN), a new nonprofit that works to help make Minnesota a safe, fun and cool place to ride, the Expo opens its doors with a wide range of bike destinations to consider and new equipment to check out.  At 7 p.m., Friday evening, grab a seat for the HaveFunBiking fashion show. It will be  your chance to see the latest attire available at your favorite bike shop.  The fun continues all day Saturday with clinics on safe riding, commuting, mountain biking, road racing and tips on how to make your business and community more bicycle friendly with ‘Complete Streets’, plus many contests, games & prizes.

Don’t forget to wear your favorite bike jersey to the Expo. Let us take your picture in that distinctive sport shirt, enter it in the contest and you could win a $100 for having the most unique jersey at the show. While attending find several other contests to enter, but everyone will walk away a winner. That’s right, everyone who attends the expo will take home a free copy of the new 2010 Minnesota Bike Event & Resource Guidebook, A handy, must-have pocket companion to use throughout the year. You will find this planner, full of events, maps and fun ideas useful throughout the year.

The Active Living Bike Expo is a prelude to the Minnesota Ironman Bike Ride, on Sunday, April 25th. Both officially kick off the summer biking season and the Expo will display many of the fun, active living opportunities for 2010. And the best part, admission to the Expo and a copy of the new Bike Guidebook are yours for bringing a food shelf item or making a donation to the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota at the door when you arrive.

For more details on the Expo and updates on the contests, demonstrations, workshops and the indoor bike corral for those who choose to ride to the expo,  please check back periodically at the: HaveFunBike Expo Page .
