It’s Day 6, the penultimate day of RAGBRAI Virtually the Best Bicycle Ride presented by TIDE. Cheers! It’s Big Grove Brewery Day.

We have a bunch of fun things going on for you today – during the day, we’re celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Iowa’s State Parks and RAGBRAI Jersey Day!

This evening, it’s Virtually the Best Concert, featuring The Pork Tornadoes! Sponsored by Big Grove – be sure to pick up some Tailwind before you tune in. Details on all of this below.

We can’t wait to share Maquoketa with you in 2021 but until then we’ve pulled together some fun facts and trivia for you. The Maquoketa Caves State Park may be their most famous attraction, but if you’re willing to do a deep dive there is a lot more fun to be had in Maquoketa!

100TH ANNIVERSARY OF IOWA STATE PARKS

The Iowa State Park Passport is your ticket to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Iowa state park system, earn prizes and enjoy the outdoors. Make it a family-friendly challenge to visit parks across the state on your bike and track your progress with their personalized passport. Not in Iowa? We encourage you to seek out your state parks and enjoy them alone or with friends or family this summer.

Next year’s route will go near two of Iowa’s State Parks. The Maquoketa Caves State Park (note the Caves are currently not open due to social distancing) and Wapsipinicon State Park in Anamosa.

VIRTUALLY THE BEST CONCERT

The band, the myth, the legend. RAGBRAI favorite, The Pork Tornadoes will take the stage to play RAGBRAI Virtually the Best Concert, sponsored by Big Grove Brewery and Tailwind, OFFICIAL BEER OF RAGBRAI, on Friday, July 24th at 7:00 p.m. If you are registered RAGBRAI Virtually the Best rider there are two ways to watch the show.

WATCH THE LIVESTREAM: Registered virtual riders can view a Livestream of the concert via the Virtually the Best private Facebook group starting at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24. The Livestream is hosted by DSM Live TV. Details will be shared via newsletters and in the private Facebook group so keep your eyes peeled.

JOIN US FOR A LIVE CONCERT: Registered virtual riders can join us LIVE in-person with The Pork Tornadoes at Revive the Live Drive-in Concert series. The show will take place at Des Moines Water Works Park (near Izaac Walton League) at 7:00 p.m. Details for how to RSVP will be provided via the Virtually the Best Riders daily newsletter and the Virtually the Best private Facebook Page.

If you are a registered RAGBRAI virtual rider you receive one complimentary parking stall to the live show and doors open at 5:45 p.m. (30 minutes early) so you can reserve the best spot on the lawn. Each parking stall requires a minimum of two people. More details regarding the live drive-in concert component are below.

LIVE CONCERT DETAILS:

This event has been planned with the highest level of safety in mind.  Vehicles will be parked with a minimum of eight feet in between, allowing you to enjoy the concert from inside or outside your vehicle. Bring your car, minivan, SUV, or average size pick-up, but leave your RV, bus, large van, or oversized vehicle at home. We love a good jacked up truck, but the guests parked behind you may not. Groups of up to 7 people per vehicle are welcome. *Offsite parking will be available for oversized vehicles if you are joining another group when you arrive. 

SAFETY INFORMATION: Utilizing the World Health Organization’s Covid-19 Risk Assessment Tool, the event team has established the risk factor for Revive the Live is LOW. We didn’t want to stop there so you’ll see lots of safeguards in place across the event field. Safety is a team effort, so we need your help as well! You’ll be asked to agree to the participant guidelines outlined below when you purchase your ticket(s).

FOOD & BEVERAGE: You can bring your own food and drink to the event. There will not be alcohol sales on-site so please plan ahead. Big Grove Brewery and the downtown Hy-Vee and Fleur Hy-Vee have partnered to make it easy to grab a six-pack of Tailwind, the Official Beer of RAGBRAI before you head over to the venue. Support the beer that supports the ride!

PLUS, Virtual RAGBRAI ticket holders can show their concert ticket and receive a 10% discount on any hot food item or meal pack at either Hy-Vee location.

*Discount is only available at the Downtown and Fleur Hy-Vees on the night of the concert. Show your ticket at checkout to receive the discount. 

Limited food and non-alcoholic food options will be available on-site.
