Thanks. You’re doing a great job. Very excited about this years ride. Looks like a lot of historic old US 30….fun.

Moved to Ames from Kelley when I was 13. We’ll be within 2 miles of where I lived once. In HS, I was on the cross-country track team and, on a cool windy day in October, our afternoon workout was running to Nevada! It was almost 9 miles. At the outskirts of Nevada, some of the guys grumbled that if the coach asked us to run back, we’d jump him, steal his car keys and drive back. But, the coach and another faculty member took us to a Dairy Queen – treats on them…and drove us back in their station wagons with the heat on. The bike ride should be easier!

Was hoping the route would go south out of Ames for a chance to go through my home town. I was born and raised in Huxley and spent a lot of time in the Slater/Cambridge area also. I think Huxley has been a pass through just once, but Slater has been a pass through many times. Not sure about Cambridge.
I am curious, how does RAGBRAI decide on detail routes between overnight towns when there are multiple ways of getting to the next overnight? Do pass through towns bid for the opportunity? What are the factors considered?
    Just wondering.
