We are excited to be a part of RAGBRAI 2021 and the overnight host for the 5th leg of your weeklong journey. The hundreds of volunteers are eager to assist your needs and show you the hospitality that has been extended to visitors since our origin as a settlement in 1838. Be sure to stop by the numerous food and beverage vendors who have chosen to showcase and provide you with their specialties.

Some points of interest for you to take in during your brief stay with us or on your next visit are the Wapsipinicon State Park, Grant Wood Art Gallery, National Motorcycle Museum, Anamosa State Penitentiary Museum, American Gothic Statue, and the numerous businesses in our Historic Downtown District.

Have a safe and pleasant ride as you continue with your trek to Dewitt & Clinton as well as your return travel back home. Please come back when you can stay longer to take in the various amenities Anamosa and Jones County has to offer.

After the BIGGEST ride of the week, you can look forward to relaxing with a good meal and entertainment in our historic downtown.

This BIG news from the RAGBRAI committee is the most entertaining yet! As promised the committee continues to showcase everything BIG about Anamosa and picking the entertainment holds true to that. There will be two stages to keep both our residents and guest riders entertained.

The main stage located on East Main Street at the intersection of Davis Street, will feature 3 local bands. Buffalo Creek will kick off the day starting at 2:30 PM. Band Member Doug Siefker says, “Buffalo Creek is looking forward to this great opportunity to perform for RAGBRAI with hits from the 80’s and 90’s including some originals as well”. Anamosa’s popular Blue 60 Band will be starting about 5:45 PM and Steve Wendel lead vocalist has promised to not disappoint but will include the crowd participation they are known for. The Boyscout Hippies will end the night beginning at 9:00 PM having everyone entertained up till 11:30 PM with their variety of Country, Rock, and everything in between! For the last 4 years Ron LaFleur and the Boy scout Hippies have been striving to create a great musical experience for the masses. They are extremely excited to be bringing everything they got to our Anamosa hometown crowd and RAGBRAI.

The local stage taking place on North Ford Street will have entertainment starting at 3:30 PM with some of the best talent in the Anamosa area including a dance company and an always popular Open Mic. They encourage both locals and RAGBRAI riders to participate. From 7:30-11:30 PM Double D Acoustic will play classic rock from the 80’s-2000’s.

The entertainment committee says when they met with the local bands all together to iron out the details it was one of the most fun meetings they had and that you can expect lots of energy from their performances on July 29th from 2:30 up until 11:30PM.

For questions contact LeeAnna Boone, 319-462-4879.

Blue 60 Band

Big believers in making the audience part of the performance, the Blue60 Band has been rocking the iconic hits of the 50s and 60s to eager audiences around Eastern Iowa for years.  The band loves to engage with the crowd and delivers songs that keep the dance floor hopping.   Don’t be surprised if some of the band members are right there on the dance floor with you!

Are you a Boomer?  If so, Blue60 is playing the soundtrack of your youth.  Not a Boomer?  No matter, Blue60 will make sure you’re an Honorary Boomer by the end of the evening!

Look for high energy hits like Gimme Three Steps, Jumpin’ Jack Flash,  and Devil With A Blue Dress.  Artists include Jerry Lee Lewis, The Beatles, Bob Seger, and Creedence.

The band loves to draw the audience into the thick of the show.  Ever play a zydeco tie?  You might get your chance!  Have you done the hand jive in public?  Blue60 will make you a star!

Blue60 plays those nostalgic hits you remember and love.  The band’s tagline is “Livin’ The Dream” and they feel strongly that it’s their job to make every audience member relive their dreams as well, at least for a few magical hours.
