Wednesday - July 27

Mason City will welcome RAGBRAI on Wednesday, July 27! Our community’s RAGBRAI committees have been working hard behind the scenes to provide a day full of great food, activities, and entertainment for riders and locals alike.
Mason City’s town theme is ‘Ride of the Century’ in honor of the fun challenge riders have that day — a 100-mile journey starting from Emmetsburg-RAGBRAI. This is the longest mileage day on the RAGBRAI route this year and the first Century Day since 1985 so it’s a big, big deal. We are looking forward to celebrating this awesome accomplishment with the riders!
Our logo was designed by local resident Julie Kim, a 15-year RAGBRAI veteran herself. It features muted earth-tones inspired by Mason City’s famous Prairie School architecture and visual elements our community members are sure to recognize, like The Historic Park Inn and the downtown plaza light posts. Julie says the wavy lines represent the Winnebago River and the straight lines show progress and movement. The banners represent the finish line and the feeling of jubilation that comes with a JOB WELL DONE.
Welcome to Mason City, RAGBRAI riders! We can’t wait to congratulate you!

Situated in picturesque Northeast Iowa, Charles City is sure to have something for everyone. Whether you’re here for an adventure on Iowa’s first whitewater course or you’d rather peruse our award winning Mooney Art Collection, we’re happy to have you. Our trails are speckled with public art and our streets have plenty of historic homes for the eye to consume. If history is your thing, we’re proud to recommend the Floyd County Museum; this locale does a great job highlighting our history as home of the Hart Parr tractor and shares our journey of regrowth after an EF-5 tornado decimated business and residential areas. Bikers are welcome on our miles of trails with lots of yummy restaurants prime for a quick bite to eat. Our entire locale is excited to welcome RAGBRAI riders and support July 28!

Charles City residents: we have lots of ways for you to be involved with RAGBRAI! Read on:

  • Join the Charles City RAGBRAI Housing Group on Facebook and host a group of riders! You can be as involved or hands-off as you’d like. If you’d like to share just your yard, there are groups who would be grateful for that. If you have an indoor bedroom and shower space, we have groups looking for that, too! We need residents to help us extend a warm, hospitable welcome to our RAGBRAI friends.
  • Volunteer for an hour (or four, or ten!). We have a multitude of duties and time slots available for volunteers. Please sign up to volunteer so we can have a successful day in Charles City.
  • Buy a shirt and share your #vivacharlescity pride. Shirts are for sale at Otto’s Oasis, The Rustic Corner, Cardigan Co, TJ Service, the Charles City Chamber of Commerce, at Party in the Park events, and online.

As July 28 draws closer, please remember: RAGBRAI riders are welcome to camp with us in designated campgrounds. All other housing matches will be made through our Viva! Housing page on Facebook.
