National recording artists SMASHMOUTH will get RAGBRAI off to a rocking start when the event begins its 38th ride out of host community Sioux City on July 24th. The outdoor show starts at 7pm on Historic Fourth Street in downtown Sioux City.
Multi-platinum recording artist SMASHMOUTH has collectively sold more than 10 million albums worldwide, and names two number one hits – Walkin’ on the Sun and All Star – to their credits. SMASHMOUTH has consistently impacted radio with recognizable hits like Then the Morning Comes, Can’t Get Enough Of You Baby, and a cover of The Monkees classic I’m a Believer, which was prominently featured on the Shrek soundtrack.
Historic Fourth Street will also be the location of the RAGBRAI Expo. The RAGBRAI Expo is the largest consumer bike expo in Midwest attracting 20,000 visitors the day before the riding begins on RAGBRAI.
The immensely popular local band SIOUX CITY ROCKESTRA will perform prior to SMASHMOUTH. ROCKESTRA, billed as America’s only professional rock & roll orchestra, will play a collection of rock and roll hits as directed by John Luebke, who founded the group in 2004.
Registered RAGBRAI participants will be admitted for free! For the general public and guests, a $10 ticket will get you into the party on Historic Fourth Street in downtown Sioux City. Tickets go on sale Saturday, April 17th, at 10:30am at the Tyson Events Center Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, online at Ticketmaster.com, or by calling 800-745-3000.
As a special bonus, buy your SMASHMOUTH tickets at the Tyson Events Center Box Office, and get an official Sioux City RAGBRAI t-shirt for only $5! Shirts will normally sell for $10, but with a concert ticket purchase, the price will be cut in half! T here will be special discounts and promotions the night of the concert for anyone wearing an official Sioux City RAGBRAI t-shirt, so don’t miss out!
“Sioux City: Rock, Ride & Go from the Mighty Mo!” is the theme chosen for this year’s Sioux City RAGBRAI event, and the artwork selected to correspond with the slogan was created by Absolute Screen Art. Logos were submitted from area design professionals, and the top design was voted on by local organizing committee members.
