Take Heart Healthiness to "Heart"
- 30 May, 2019

Heart healthiness means so much to us at Businessolver, as well as to me personally. I am so proud to work for a company that takes heart healthiness to “heart.” But heart health isn’t just a fuzzy “nice to have” it goes way deeper. The importance of heart health hit home in a significant and real way when our co-worker and friend, Charron died in 2016. It hit home to me in a significant and real way in 2010 when my dad had a major heart attack followed by a quadruple bypass and then in 2014 he died of a stroke. All three of these heart related incidents could have been possibly prevented by more awareness and early heart health screenings. Early prevention and education about heart health to prevent more tragedies is why this campaign is so important to us. We don’t want to lose anyone else to a heart disease related illnesses.
We want everybody who participates in RAGBRAI this year to make sure that they get their heart checks early and understand their heart readiness to ride. This is a PERFECT time to get your annual physical and let your doctor know you are getting ready to ride RAGBRAI. We will be pushing a campaign at Businessolver to encourage our folks to get their annual check-ups in soon and make sure their hearts are strong. We would LOVE to hear your #whydoyouride story as well. Businessolver is partnering with the American Heart Association and Hy-Vee to make sure everybody on the ride has their heart covered!!
You can do your part by getting those hearts checked early. Visit the AHA website http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/ and find out what the risk factors are. Get those hearts ready for the ride of a lifetime! #heartsolver #whydoyouride #lifeiswhyIA

Great message. I am 39 years old and just dodged a bullet with a 99% coronary blockage that was able to be addressed with a heart stent. I was lucky and avoided a heart attack as I felt early symptoms. I am looking forward to riding my 3rd RAGBRAI this year. Not everyone is as fortunate and I know 2 other family friends that did not see their 50th birthdays due to heart disease. Early detection and screening is a must and well worth the time and discussion with your doctor.
Thank you. An important article.
Exercise. Every time you are physically active, whether you take a walk or ride your bike, your body releases mood-boosting chemicals called endorphins. Exercising not only melts away stress, it also protects against heart disease by lowering your blood pressure, strengthening your heart muscle, and helping you maintain a healthy weight.
