The Dream Team Thanks Supporters

A concern about the future of at-risk youth in Des Moines led to a group who wanted young people to experience the sense of fellowship, accomplishment and goal setting that participating in RAGBRAI creates. RAGBRAI, Bike World, and the Riverfront YMCA work through the Des Moines school system to successfully recruit and train youths, ages 13-18, for the ride each year.
The mission of the Dream Team is: “To assist youth in developing a healthy spirit, mind and body, and a productive approach to life’s challenges through preparation for and participation in RAGBRAI”.
Upon completion of the training program and RAGBRAI, the reward is the privilege of owning the bicycle and equipment used during training. The young people now have the ability and the equipment to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The Dream Team relies on the generosity of businesses, bike clubs, charitable groups and caring individuals to fund the team’s activities and equipment needs. You can help these young people achieve the goal of a lifetime with a tax-deductible gift:
- $1,000 ~ will sponsor a teen through the training program and RAGBRAI
- $500 ~ will purchase a bike for a member of the Dream Team
- $250 ~ will purchase camping equipment for a member of the Dream Team
- $100 ~ will purchase refreshments for a long weekend training ride
- $50 ~ will purchase a helmet and gloves for a Dream Team member
