RAGBRAI lost a true legend with the passing of “Tender Tom” LeRoy Crook of West Liberty, Iowa. For 30 years LeRoy and his family ran Tender Tom’s Turkey on RAGBRAI. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Crook family.
RIP Tender Tom! We love you! You will be missed!

LeRoy Crook, 71, of West Liberty, passed away Friday, Sept. 8, 2017. Memorial mass 10 A.M. Saturday, September 16, 2017 St. Joseph Catholic Church West Liberty. Visitation will be held in the Parish Life Center from 11 to 2 P.M. after the Mass.

I was introduced to Tender Toms my first year of 29 consecutive RAGBRAIs in 1989, it soon became my place to stop several times each year and even more so with the great fruit smoothies. I always took the time to promote the product and guided several friends to his place. More important was a ongoing relationship with LeRoy, including sharing one more smoothie while talking to him the last day of this years ride.
