Wet morning will give way to clear skies

RAGBRAI riders can expect a wet morning as thunderstorms move across the route, but clear skies are coming.
Rain is expected to clear up in the area of the route between 11 a.m. and noon, said Kurt Kotenberg, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Johnston.
“Then it looks pretty dry after that for the rest of the day,” he said.
If you are close enough to hear thunder, you run the chance of being struck by lightning while outside, Kotenberg said. Don’t take shelter under a tree; try to get indoors and wait out the storm.
Once the rain clears, riders will have to fight a bit of wind, with gusts up to 25 mph.
