Here’s what you need to know about Day 3 of RAGBRAI XLVIII, when we ride from Fort Dodge to Iowa Falls!

First things first: let’s see our route:

Today’s ride is 55.5 miles with approximately 1,028 feet of climb. Those who ride the Gravel “loop” will travel 70.2 miles and have 1,376 feet of climb. On our way from Sac City to Fort Dodge, we will visit Duncombe, Webster City (Meeting Town), Blairsburg, Williams (2 miles south), and Alden. Stop by the People for Bikes booth downtown in every overnight town for route cards with more accurate between-town mileages.

Tuesday on RAGBRAI XLVIII is Jim Green Day and Gravel Day!

Jim Green Day
RAGBRAI XLVIII is in memory of James “Greenie” Green, the popular, long-time RAGBRAI director from 1991-2004. On this day, we honor Greenie’s outgoing personality, passion, and the energy he brought to RAGBRAI. Wear your “The Grass is Always Greenie” shirt available at the RAGBRAI Merchandise trailers. All profits from the sale of the shirt go to the Dream Team, co-founded by Greenie.

Gravel Day
There are no denying riders who enjoy gravel riding! In the past, RAGBRAI has offered a gravel loop. This year we’ve taken it to the next level with a 70-mile route taking riders through Alden. This optional route is recommended for those who truly want a taste of Iowa gravel.

Once we get to Iowa Falls, we’ll be Nautical by Nature! Thanks to our official GIS Sponsor, CGA Consultants for our RAGBRAI XLVIII Overnight Town Maps!
