Why Ride in the 2014 Tour de Cure?

Tour de Cure is more than just a cycling event. It’s a life-changing event. A day full of fun and excitement where riders of all levels join forces in the fight to Stop Diabetes and raise crucial funds for diabetes research, education and advocacy in support of the American Diabetes Association.

The Tour de Cure is a ride, not a race. Whether you are an occasional rider or an experienced cyclist, there is a route just for you. Ride our Family Ride, 20 mile ride, 50 mile ride, or our Century Ride. Each rider raises a minimum of $200 to participate. All of the routes are supported by a crew of dedicated volunteers. Rest stops are available every 10- 15 miles.  After the ride of your life, you will be welcomed back to our Post-Ride Party as a hero in the fight to Stop Diabetes.

Red Riders are why we ride! The purpose of a Red Rider is to support everyone who lives with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes and showcases the courage it takes to live each day with this difficult disease.  Red Riders will receive a day full of celebration and recognition gifts!

In 2013, more than 65,000 cyclists in 89 events raised more than $26 million to support the American Diabetes Association.  In Iowa, we strive to raise critical funds for the 225,000 Iowans affected diabetes.
