Unfortunately this along with the other threads that contained any information pertaining to the new ride will be removed. Basically a big stink over TJ donating $50,000 of RAGBRAI money to the Carson King Venmo fund for the Children’s Hospital. The Register didn’t take kindly to it.

Not 100% sure it was him, but he takes photos every year.

Rock Rapids, Hawarden, Lemars or Sioux Center for a start town. Then the ride continues east on a northern route.
Brian Wallenburg replied to the topic Observations about the ride in the forum RAGBRAI XLVII – 2019 3 years, 7 months ago
RAGBRAI is not a race. I don’t ride an e-bike but I could care less that they are out there. I found many traditional bike riders more inconsiderate than e-bike riders. You know the ones… constantly yelling “on your left” even when there’s no room to move further to the right. I average around 14-16 mph and was never passed by an e-bike. People…[Read more]

I have a dislike for the southern route. Need to have your GPS out to realize you’ve passed through half the “towns”. I wish they would keep the route in middle or northern Iowa. RV Parking was not the greatest this year either. On a good note… the weather was great!

The body took a beating on Thursday for sure! Never ending cracks in the road.
Brian Wallenburg replied to the topic RV Generator Noise in the forum RAGBRAI XLVII – 2019 3 years, 8 months ago
The idea that the generator noise is worse in the RV is all dependent on the size and muffler of the generator. We had a guy with a HUGE noisy clattering generator pull in next to us. It was so loud and obnoxious We couldn’t even carry on a conversation. We ended up moving camp to a different area. Moral of the story, bring ear plugs and be…[Read more]

Teach them to ride bicycle and they’ll have no money for drugs! I love seeing kids on RAGBRAI.

You can usually purchase them at the expo on Saturday.

High school showers should work for you. Another thought would be the local nursing homes in the overnight towns.
Brian Wallenburg replied to the topic Here is my packing list for RAGBRAI 2019. Thoughts? in the forum RAGBRAI XLVI – 2018 3 years, 9 months ago
My thoughts – you carry way to much stuff for a supported ride. But it’s RAGBRAI so do whatever works for you.
Brian Wallenburg replied to the topic How's the training? in the forum RAGBRAI XLVII – 2019 3 years, 9 months ago
1782 right now, will break 1800 once I leave work. Should be over 2000 by the time RAGBRAI roles around. That being said, none of it is specific training for RAGBRAI. I just like to ride my bicycles! Happy trails!

Brian Wallenburg replied to the topic Camping Friday At the start town? in the forum RAGBRAI XLVII – 2019 3 years, 9 months ago
Last time the ride started in Council Bluffs we camped on Friday night. I’d say there were 100 or more tents and campers set up. There’s a fair amount of green space so you feel like you’re in the way.

You can also purchase them on Saturday or Sunday. I don’t think they ever “run out” of day passes.

Brian Wallenburg replied to the topic RAGBRAI 2019 overnight RV parking info for each town? in the forum RAGBRAI XLVII – 2019 3 years, 9 months ago
Frequent campground locations will be high schools, colleges and fairgrounds. Typically you’ll be able to pick up support route maps including camping information on Saturday night prior to the ride. Don’t put to much work into it, sometimes the campground you were planning to use is full by the time you get there.
